“Therapy has one clear and definite purpose: that something of positive value and constructive usefulness will come out of it for you: A goal of therapy should be to enable you to cope at a higher level with your current environment and gain more control over your life.”

Sometimes You or Your Child Needs to Talk to Someone, Someone Who Can Help…
7 MOST COMMON REASONS FOR SEEKING HELP: Recognizing the need for professional help is a good first step towards improvement. Therapy can be of real benefit, providing help for a wide range of problems such as depression, loss, marital strife, parent-child concerns, school friendship and adjustment issues, or emotional distress. It can also help fulfill aspirations for personal, academic, or career growth, college selection, and self-improvement.
Emotional Distress From time to time everyone, adults, children, and teens included, experience emotional pain. This can be due to previous experiences, current social situations, chronic medical diagnoses, or the aging process. Sometimes the distress is particularly severe or long lasting and interferes with your or your child’s ability to function in daily life. If you or your child are experiencing sadness, grief, or anxiety that is persistent, therapy can help relieve the symptoms, address the underlying causes for the distress, and provide help in restoring emotional well-being or resources to better cope with ongoing medical challenges.
Personal, Educational and/or Career Growth Therapy can help you or your child or teen overcome obstacles that have prevented attaining educational or career goals and/or becoming the person you or they want to be. Social and educational challenges of Elementary, Middle, High School and/or college can be tremendously painful and can bring difficult stresses that if left unaddressed can hamper successful progression to a fully rewarding adult life. As well, children and teens with common school issues such as food allergies, asthma, ADHD, Austism, and Asbergers can benefit from therapy supporting that the child receives best practices of access to education in possibly through an IEP (Individualized Educational Plan) or the Federally Mandated 504 Plan in a Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
Relationship & Family Issues The sources of distress can come from difficulties in family relationships with a spouse, parent, child, or with a co-worker, school friends and/or significant others. Therapy can be valuable in helping you or your child understand the root of the problem providing the understanding and skills needed to improve the relationship.Sometimes emotional distress or relationship problems are associated with coping mechanisms, such as poor anger control, sexual repression/dysfunction, extreme shyness, lack of assertiveness, or alternatively over assertiveness. Therapy enables you to acquire or strengthen skills that can benefit many of the most important areas of your life
Loss: Death, Aging, Family Break Up & Blended Families
Experiencing a break from someone who is important to you or a family structure that is familiar to you or your child (through death, divorce, aging, medical condition, or other type of separation) can result in great emotional pain. Therapy can be significantly helpful in assisting family members to cope with the loss as well as for helping you to effectively help your children and other family members to cope with these losses.
Trauma, Violence or Abuse
Victims of trauma, violence, or abuse can feel so overwhelmed by feelings of fear, anger, or helplessness that their ability to function effectively is significantly impaired. Therapy can help provide a safe, confidential setting in which to discuss these issues with a caring, supportive person and find ways to move forward with your life.
Clinical Disorders or Conditions
Certain disorders or conditions can benefit from an overall treatment plan which includes therapy and another form of treatment, such as medication. Research shows that significantly more benefit is derived from a combination of therapy and medication than just medication alone.
